About

Our Mission: Improving Patient Outcomes Through Simulation-Based Training and Readiness Planning

Founded in 2007, the Idaho Simulation Network (ISN) was a statewide nonprofit dedicated to enhancing healthcare safety and competency through human patient simulation. Originally affiliated with the Idaho Hospital Association, ISN became an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2014. A key initiative of ISN was its involvement in Idaho’s Time Sensitive Emergency (TSE) system, addressing life-threatening conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, and trauma. By leveraging simulation training and telemedicine, ISN helped improve patient outcomes, enhance team performance, and strengthen healthcare systems across the state.  In 2018, ISN and Idaho Simulation Network merged into Healthcare Safety Solutions.

HSS provides hands-on training for healthcare professionals, including students, emergency responders, physicians, and hospital staff, helping them prepare for high-risk, low-frequency medical emergencies. HSS focuses on rural and underserved communities, ensuring that clinicians have access to critical simulation-based education and readiness planning.

Readiness planning sessions

Tailored to identify specific learning objectives, outcome measures, and scenario designs based on the unique needs of individual EMS agencies and hospitals.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT OUTCOMES

Simulation training is used to test changes in quality improvement projects, optimize protocols, and improve processes.

Procedural Skills Labs

Hands-on practice sessions preceding simulations to improve participants’ critical skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Debriefing Sessions

Structured debriefs led by experienced facilitators help teams reflect on their actions, recognize successes, and identify areas for improvement. Immediate feedback reinforces learning and enables participants to adjust and refine their responses.

IN-SITU SIMULATION

On-site simulations conducted in actual clinical and field settings to allow participants to practice under real-world conditions they are likely to encounter.

SUMMARY REPORTS

Following each session, comprehensive reports are provided to outline readiness levels and offer actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

Work with us

Healthcare Safety Solutions (HSS) provides high-quality, mobile simulation-based team training designed to enhance critical thinking, technical proficiency, and teamwork skills for rural EMS personnel, critical access hospital staff, and air transport flight crews.

Our programs target high-risk, low-frequency emergencies to enhance patient outcomes and reduce response times.
